Our promise · Tree King
Every week in these neighborhoods a live oak gets topped, a crape myrtle gets murdered, a healthy tree comes down because somebody wanted the job. Bad advice hurts trees every day. This page is what we promise instead, in writing, with our name on it.
You will hear these in a driveway somewhere in Fulshear this week. Each one has cost a tree its life or its shape. Keep this list.
"This tree is dangerous. It has to come down today."
With no reason you can see. Urgency with nothing to point at is a sales tactic. A real hazard has a crack, a cavity, a root plate lifting, a dead top. Ask to be shown.
"We'll top it so it's safer in storms."
Topping does the opposite. The stubs sprout weak, fast shoots that break in the next storm, and the tree starts to decay from every cut. It is the single worst thing you can do to a tree.
"We'll thin out the inside so the wind blows through."
That is lion-tailing. Interior limbs are what keep a branch strong and tapered. Strip them and all the weight sits at the tips, and the limb fails. Thin from the outside, lightly, or not at all.
"Spring is the best time to prune your live oak."
Spring is oak wilt season. A company that prunes live oaks in April either does not know, or does not care. Either way, not in your yard.
"Just pile the mulch up against the trunk, it holds water."
A mulch volcano rots the bark, invites roots to circle, and kills a young tree slowly. Mulch is a flat ring, a hand's width away from the trunk.
"We don't do estimates, we'll settle up after."
Then the number is whatever they feel like when the truck is loaded. You get a price before the first cut, in writing, or you do not get us.
Honesty costs jobs. Every "leave it alone" is money we did not take. We can do it for three reasons.
We know what we are looking at. Lucas is a third-generation arborist who started at seven raking leaves for his father's company and has been in family tree businesses ever since. 12 ISA certificates and the Tree King Certification. Diagnostics, structural pruning and the long care of big live oaks and pecans is the specialty.
Our customers come back. A tree pruned right needs us again in three years, and the neighbors ask who did it. Lying is a one-time sale. The truth is a thirty-year customer. We are building the second kind of company.
Our crew is trained to say it too. Everyone who works at Tree King learns the standard in our Academy and is expected to tell a customer the truth even when the boss is not there. It is the first rule on day one. Work at Tree King if that is the kind of crew you want to be on.
One leader, spaced limbs, canopy raised off the drive. Twenty minutes now instead of a crane in twenty years.
Fertilization, structural pruning in the safe window, a health check, first in line after storms. One plan, from the prices on the page.
Photograph the tree. In thirty seconds you get species, what is wrong, how urgent, and our real price for it. Before you call anyone.
Oak wilt, hypoxylon, chlorosis, root stress. We look first. $60 right now, credited to whatever the tree turns out to need.
The other Tree King motto
An on-site estimate, a flat $10 fuel fee credited to the job you book, and the truth about your trees whether you book or not.
