Fulshear Lakes is a 556-acre community at FM 1093 and Pool Hill Road, laid out around five lakes, creeks and trails. Creekside Village came first and Lakeside Park Village followed, with more villages planned.

Homes here have young live oaks in the front yard like every new neighborhood, but many lots also back up to water or to older trees that were left standing. Those two kinds of tree need different care, and we do both. We are based in Pattison, a short drive away.

Two kinds of trees, two kinds of care

Young yard trees. Builder-planted live oaks need one main trunk, limbs spaced up the stem and the canopy raised over the sidewalk a little at a time. A light pruning every couple of years in the first decade does it.

Older trees near the water. Native trees on creek banks and lake edges often lean toward the light and carry dead wood over yards and fences. We remove the dead and hanging limbs, reduce weight on long branches and tell you honestly if a tree is failing.

Wet feet. Lots near water and low ground stay wet after rain. Trees planted too deep in saturated clay yellow and stall. We check the root flare and drainage before recommending fertilizer, because feeding does not fix a drowning tree.

Before hurricane season. Open water gives the wind a long run. Trees on lake lots take more of it than trees in the middle of a block, so they are worth checking before June.

Where we work around Fulshear Lakes

We work in Creekside Village, Lakeside Park Village and the newer sections as they open, and across the rest of the FM 1093 corridor: Polo Ranch, Fulbrook on Fulshear Creek, Cross Creek Ranch and Weston Lakes.

If the tree in question is on a reserve or common area rather than your lot, the HOA usually has to approve the work. We can look at it with you and tell you what to ask them for.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work in Fulshear Lakes?

Yes. We are based in Pattison and work along FM 1093 every week.

A tree behind my fence is leaning over my yard. Can you trim it?

If the trunk is on your lot, yes. If it is on a reserve or common area, the HOA normally needs to approve the work first. We can look at it and tell you which it is and what needs doing.

When is the best time to prune live oaks?

Late summer through winter. We avoid February through June when we can because that is when oak wilt spreads most easily, and we seal fresh cuts.
